Checkmate the other king.

1. 1White moves first; take turns moving one piece.
2. 2Pawns move forward 1 (2 on their first move) and capture diagonally; one reaching the far rank becomes a queen (or any piece).
3. 3Knights jump in an L; bishops slide diagonally; rooks in straight lines; the queen any direction; the king one square.
4. 4Special moves: castling (king 2 squares toward a rook that jumps over — neither may have moved, no check in the way) and en passant.
5. 5Put the enemy king in check and leave it no escape = checkmate, you win. No legal move but not in check = stalemate, a draw.
