- 1Four players, two partnerships, 13 cards each. Spades are always trump.
- 2Everyone bids how many tricks they'll take; partners add their bids together. Bidding “nil” = you promise to take none.
- 3Follow suit if you can; you can't lead spades until they're broken.
- 4Make your bid: 10 points per trick bid, +1 per extra trick (a “bag”). Miss it: lose 10 per trick bid. Every 10 bags costs 100.
- 5First team to 500 wins.
